The Civil Society Commission and the Center for Public Administration at the University of Benghazi launch joint cooperation initiatives to develop institutional performance.

In order to strengthen institutional cooperation and identify development needs, a consultative meeting was held on Wednesday, April 16, 2026, at the headquarters of the General Administration of the Civil Society Commission in Benghazi, bringing together representatives of the Civil Society Commission and the Center for General Administration and Institutional Performance Development – University of Benghazi.

The meeting’s agenda included several key topics, namely:

  • Getting to know each other and exchanging views on areas of common work.
  • Discussing the needs of the Civil Society Commission in administrative and organizational aspects.
  • Reviewing the center’s capabilities in the areas of training and institutional development.
  • Discussing mechanisms for cooperation and joint coordination between the two parties.

The meeting opened with welcoming remarks that emphasized the importance of building effective partnerships between the two sides, and their role in supporting civil society institutions and promoting the principles of good governance.

For its part, the Civil Society Commission reviewed the most prominent challenges and needs related to developing institutional performance, which included:

  • Developing a modern organizational structure for the Commission.
  • Implementing training programs in the fields of public administration and governance.
  • Supporting capacity building in strategic planning and project management.
  • Developing work systems and administrative procedures.
  • Enhancing communication and coordination skills with civil society organizations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed on a number of recommendations, most notably:

  • Forming a joint working group to determine implementation priorities.
  • Preparing a memorandum of cooperation to regulate aspects of future partnership.
  • Starting to implement short-term training programs as a first phase.
  • Developing a joint action plan.

The meeting concluded by emphasizing the importance of continued coordination and cooperation between the two parties, which contributes to developing institutional performance and enhancing the role of civil society organizations in supporting sustainable development and consolidating the principles of good governance.
